WHAT IS THE MMPR?
The Marihuana for Medical Purposes Regulations (MMPR) is Canada’s program for accessing Medical Marijuana. The MMPR came into full effect on March 31st, 2014 and replaces the Marihuana Medical Access Regulations (MMAR).
The new regulations set out a system for patients and doctors to access Medical Marijuana through Health Canada Licensed Producers.
New Registrants under the MMPR program require a doctor’s note from their Medical Practitioner to be eligible. Individuals are able to work with their Medical Practitioner to choose the Health Canada Licensed Producer that best meets their medical needs.
