WHAT WAS THE MMAR?
The Marihuana Medical Access Regulations (MMAR) was Canada’s Medical Marijuana access regulations prior to the MMPR.
The MMAR required patients themselves to be licensed by Health Canada and came with the ability to grow your own medicine. MMAR License holders were also able to have an individual be their designated grower or purchase directly from Health Canada.
The MMAR has been officially repealed yet a class action lawsuit by MMAR license holders has successfully sparked an injunction. The MMAR injunction applies only to those patients who currently hold a valid MMAR license. All new patients looking to access Medical Marijuana after March 31st, 2014 must do so in compliance with the MMPR.
